Xylos  - Vic Firth M130
Bells

Aux
 - Vic Firth BSCI 1

Metronome - any model will do
Practice pad - any model will do - computer mouse pads work fine

These models were chosen to enhance the sound quality of the competition music. Please talk to Debbie before you buy any other model number so you can be given a second choice.

Students should shop for the best prices, stores like Singer Music in La Puente and Gard's Music in Glendora will probably give student discounts if you ask. Sam Ash probably carries these models as well so check your prices before you buy.

Members of the drumline battery; please refer to the stick selections that were listed for you at the beginning of the school year on this page. Bass drummers can pick up the same style of mallet that we use at school at Gards Music.

Additional Information:
  • All students need to download from the Vic Firth website the Marching Percussion 101 book and put it into a 3 ring binder using page protectors. Half inch binder should be adequate.
  • All students need to purchase the following books (Links are provided for your reference not as a suggested purchase location or price):
  • Each student is responsible for their books. Please put your name in each one.
  • Each student is expected to bring the books, sticks, and practice pad to all practices until told otherwise.
  • Each student is expected and required to practice a minimum of 45 minutes 5 days a week. Parents please monitor at home practice. Students can turn in weekly practice log with parent signature for credit.
  • Once the line is “set” (who plays what), this page will tell each student what sticks/mallets and stick or mallet bags to get.
  • If cared for, stick and mallet bags should last for several years. Sticks need to be replaced often so get several pairs, and mallets should be replaced yearly if not broken or damaged during the season.
  • Put your name on everything!
